Allow email throttling / staggering send times
Allow email marketers to set an email to throttle, or send so many per hour/timeframe. Spacing out potential site traffic makes server overload less likely.
Create a way to delay, or stagger, email send times over a period of time. For instance, send 10% of the list the email in the first hour, 10% in the second hour, 10% in the third hour, etc- allowing you to determine what time frame results in the most activity for your list. You could then test each day of the week and no know more accurately the days and time to send emails.
When you schedule an email using a batch delivery feature, the campaign can be sent to a section of your list instead of sending to your entire list at once. This would allow us to choose the number of recipients in each batch as well as the time lapse between each batch. This helps control traffic to your website and prevents potential strain on your server or website-crushing click floods. Also, sending an email to multiple recipients within the same company can cause their email firewall to report it as spam. Attached is an example Mailchimp's feature that has helps avoid these issues.
I TOTALLY agree, an absolute necessity for B2B marketing.
We're a HubSpot agency partner and have experienced this same issue. We started using one of the new HubSpot Connect Integrations, Seventh Sense, which does send time optimization — and spacing out emails is a by-product of what it does. It basically personalizes the delivery time for each contact over a a window of time (which you select) which then delivers the emails out gradually at each contact's "best time". It's had a major impact on our deliverability—way less hard bounces.

Agree - we need more flexibility in sends - even a step further, allow for contacts to receive emails around the last time they opened one. Gives us the ability to interact on their terms and when they are more in the mode to engage.

I agree that this is a crucial feature that hubspot is lacking. Most of their tools I have been very happy with, but I am surprised they do not have this one.

This was a huge advantage with my former bulk email provider, and one of the elements that I feel is a large missing element within the Email tool on HubSpot. I know that our customer service team was very thankful that we were able to space out our email messages over the course of a 24 hour period so we didn't overwhelm their telephone queue with several thousand calls all at the same time.

I really love this. To effectively service respondents in a list, it makes sense not to flood an entire list at once. People who may call looking for help are that much more likely to get voicemail during the spike of activity that's generated. We'd really rather have more in-person conversations.

I totally agree with this! It will save so much time so you don't have to split out lists and clone emails. Also means we can respond more effectively to marketing communications!

Yes! This should really be a core feature of HS already. This would be very useful as I currently have to segment lists outside of HS and then import them in based on how I want to send out the emails. It would be great to import my entire list and then segment that list based on different criteria.
