Assign Unique Contact ID (or use the VID that already exists)
Enabling use of the vid (HubSpot's visitor identification number) would let us do a multitude of things internally.
Everything from incentivized Friend referral programs to eCommerce Discounts to deeper Lead Scoring tracking techniques.
Here is where you can currently access the vid through the API, but we shouldn't have to pull something out of the system only to move it back in, while pinging the API each time.
To borrow some thoughts from Jan Roessner's Idea post:
"On step further, a code generator for marketing and promo purposes would be great that generates random codes and forwards them via an API to another entity. I know it's a lot to ask for but that would be amazing."
Currently we are doing this manually by exporting our entire contact list, then re-importing them with an unique "Referral ID". Seems silly to be doing this manual process, especially when HubSpot already has they functionally built in, just not the access to it. ;)

this functionality would be great especially for the purposes for unique Code Generation. The Manual uploading and re-importing for constact with the codes will be much easier. Plus, if you think about new contacts. This Feature wuold help a lot.

I'm considering HupSpot as a CRM but without a unique customer identifier it's pretty much unusable.
This has been status "Pending" for almost 2 years now. Any updates, @HubSpot?

If anyone is comfortable with PHP we've made an open source package for doing this, that is similar to Regan Starr's idea except we are using a smart list and also the VID is base64 encoded to at least obfuscate it somewhat, but still easily decoded in order to use it.

I'd like to utilize the vID for round robin lead assignment, since that also isn't possible in HubSpot.
It is certainly silly that vID isn't available as a contact property out of the box from HubSpot, when every visitor has one and it is integral to the function of the marketing automation system.
One year ago there was a response on this, but no movement – what gives, HubSpot? Got to give the people, give the people what they want.
This would be great for systematically sampling contacts. We would like to A/B test entire workflows. Since this feature is not available in Hubspot, we could use the vID as a criteria for a starting list. This will give us a sample to test against the control group. For example, the Test Group's criteria is contacts with a vID ending in '0' and Control Group group is contacts with vID ending in 1-9. This would give us a systematically sampled test group with 10% of the population. Then we can actually test the performance of entire workflows against one another.
